Trent Matejcek grew up in Lakota, graduating from LHS in 2001 and from UND in 2005. Trent started working as a crop insurance adjuster in 2003. In 2008, he became a licensed insurance agent and joined Vasichek Insurance Agency as a sub agent. He purchased the agency from former owner, Bob Vasichek, in 2009, and has been owner and operator ever since.
Vasichek Insurance sells mainly Multi-peril Crop Insurance and Crop Hail Insurance. They have one employee, Denae Dahlen. "Denae is a licensed agent who is excellent at what she does, and Vasichek Insurance wouldn't be what it is without her!", said Trent.
Even though their office is in the old Kite Café, they do not serve breakfast or have nickel coffee. Their coffee is actually free!
A favorite thing about working in a small community is "being able to work with good family farmers and doing our small part in keeping these family farms in business year after year", said Trent.
Trent is married to Sarah, and they have three children, Ethan, Keira and Chase. They live on the Matejcek family farm, rural Brocket, where they also farm.
